About SUNY Binghamton

Binghamton University, a premier public institution within the State University of New York (SUNY) system, offers a world-class education with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and research. Recognized as a "Public Ivy," the university combines rigorous academics with a vibrant campus life, preparing students for successful futures.

Academics

Binghamton University comprises six schools, with Harpur College of Arts and Sciences being the oldest and largest, offering over 10,300 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students across 26 departments and 14 interdisciplinary programs. Other key faculties include the College of Community and Public Affairs, Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the School of Management, and the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. International Students

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides comprehensive support, including immigration guidance, employment advising, and assistance with cultural integration. The English Language Institute (ELI) offers credit-bearing academic English classes and tutoring, as well as a "Conversation Pairs" program to help non-native English speakers practice with native speakers. Numerous international student organizations, such as the Asian Student Union, African Student Organization, Indian Graduate Student Organization, and International Connection, foster cultural exchange and assist new students in adjusting to university life.

Campus & Location

Binghamton University's main campus is situated in Vestal, New York, a suburb of Binghamton, on a 930-acre wooded hillside above the Susquehanna River. The campus layout is famously shaped like a brain, with the main road forming the cerebrum and cerebellum, and academic facilities located within this "brain." A notable feature is the 190-acre Nature Preserve, which includes forest and wetland areas, providing a unique natural environment. Binghamton is approximately three hours from New York City and Philadelphia, and five hours from Washington D.C. and Boston. The university offers six residential communities, each with its own distinct character, providing a small college atmosphere within a larger university setting.

Career Outcomes

Binghamton University graduates demonstrate strong career outcomes, with 85.8% of those seeking employment securing a full-time job within six months of graduation. For those pursuing further education, 94.8% are enrolled in graduate or professional programs within the same timeframe. The university's Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development is nationally recognized for providing opportunities, education, and connections to prepare students for advanced education and successful careers. Graduates are employed by leading organizations across various industries, including Accenture, Amazon, Bank of America, Bloomberg LP, Capital One, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
