About Thammasat University
Academics
Thammasat University offers a broad range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across 27 faculties, covering fields like law, political science, economics, business administration, social sciences, humanities, engineering, technology, and health sciences. The teaching approach emphasizes independent thinking, analytical skills, and often incorporates interactive methodologies. Notable programs include the Faculty of Law, recognized as one of the oldest and most respected in Thailand, and the Thammasat Business School. The university is also developing specialized competencies such as AI ethics and cross-cultural collaboration, with a focus on interdisciplinary and experiential learning.
International Students
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Thammasat University serves as a central hub for international initiatives, offering support and services to international students and scholars. Many programs are taught in English, particularly at the graduate level and within international programs, with 32% of all academic programs being international programs. While specific diversity statistics beyond the total number of international students (381 from 21 nationalities, representing about 1.4% of the student body) are not readily available, the university fosters cultural integration through various student activities and organizations, including the Thammasat International Club (TIC) which helps new international students acclimate. Students have the option to wear the school uniform, which can be a way to immerse themselves in Thai culture.
Campus & Location
Thammasat University has multiple campuses, with the Tha Prachan Campus located in the heart of Bangkok, rich in Thai culture and history, adjacent to the Grand Palace and Chao Phraya River. The larger Rangsit Campus, situated north of Bangkok in Pathum Thani, houses most scientific and technological faculties and main sports facilities. Transportation between Bangkok and the Rangsit campus is available via public vans, buses, and the SRT Red Line. On the Rangsit campus, free electric shuttle buses, song taews, and motorcycle taxis provide convenient internal transportation.
Career Outcomes
Thammasat University boasts a high graduate employment rate, with approximately 92.62% of bachelor's degree graduates finding employment within 12 months, ranking it highly in Thailand for graduate employability. This success is attributed to the curriculum's alignment with labor market demands, integration of practical professional skills, internships with leading organizations, and a dedicated Career Development Center. The university also actively fosters a startup culture, providing an ecosystem that supports low-carbon and green-tech startups from idea generation to business incubation, with initiatives like the Thammasat Creative Space (TCS).
